Post 4: My
best place
One of my
favorite places in Santiago is Bellas Artes. This neighborhood is located very
close of the center of Santiago, between Cardenal José María Caro street by the
north, Santa Lucía or Huelen Hill by the south, Purísima bridge by west side
and mac-iver street by the east side.
Is very
easy to getting there, one option is get down in the Bellas Artes subway
station, other option by bus.
This
neighborhood is part of the traditional and historical foundation of Santiago.
There are historical buildings like the house of partido radical social demócrata, the national library of Chile,
and the most representative building and very important for the arts the
Chilean National Museum of Fine Arts (MNBA)
situated in the Parque Forestal,
behind it is located the Museum of Contemporary Art of the University of Chile.
Bellas
Artes is full of restaurants and bars like “The Clinic”, coffees like Mosqueto.
By the way, this place is also known as the coffee neighborhood. So you can go
alone or with friends and have a nice coffee or beer.
If you walk
by their streets you can find different monuments and statues like Neptune and
Anfititre. Also, you can go for a walk, run or ride in bicycle in the Parque Forestal, I recommend sundays
because the street are closed for cars but open to run and bike, also in the
afternoon the Parque Forestal is full
of activities, like street shows, theater is very funny.
As you can
see there are many activities and places to visit here, personally I like to
walk and visit the museums regularly, so I recommended 100% percent, especially
for tourist who wants to know one of the most representative culture of our society.
